The contest is open to any Crosby County resident wishing to bake a pie. There is a special Junior Division for bakers 17 & under, but the Adult Division is open to all ages.
Multiple pies entries are allowed. Contestants may enter any and all classes. Each contestant should designate the class for their entry. A separate entry form must be must be accompanied with each entry.
Pies must be prepared and baked by the individual submitting the pie entry for judging.
Individual entries only, no places of business or retail/dining establishment may enter.

Contestants must bring 2 of the same pie for each entry. When you check in you will be asked which pie you would like to be your “appearance pie.” That pie will remain uncut and will be auctioned off.
A recipe for the pie and the pie crust MUST accompany each entry. All recipes must be typed on an 8 ½ x 11” sheet of white paper with complete ingredient list and directions. Contest name, address, phone number, and email address must be printed on the back of the recipe.
A pie has a bottom crust, perhaps a top crust, and a filling. Tarts are allowed.
All entries must be baked in a home kitchen. Crust must be made from scratch. No store bought crust, dough, or canned fillings may be used.
Pie should be submitted in an 8, 9, or 10” pan. It is strongly suggested to bake pie in a disposable pan as no pie pans will be returned.
Pies should be submitted covered. Pies must be maintained and submitted at a proper temperature as determined by the health department. Pies that need special handling, refrigeration, or heating elements are not allowed. Because of facility limitations frozen pies cannot be accepted.
Do not write your name on the pie tin, your entry will be assigned a number upon check-in.
Pies must be dropped off at the Community Room from 9:30 AM – 11:30 AM. No pies will be accepted after 11:30 AM.
A panel of judges from the community will judge the entries. This is a blind judging, and all decisions are final.
Pies will be judged on overall appearance, crust, filling, and overall flavor/ taste. In the event of a tie, those pies will be judged again.
Winners in each category will receive prize ribbons.
Grand-prize winner will be judged from the first place winner from each category. Grand-prize winner will receive a certificate and bragging rights.
Winners will be announced after judging is complete.
After the winners are announced, the judges’ pies will be sliced for the public to sample. The “appearance” pie will be auctioned off with proceeds going to the Ralls Chamber of Commerce.
By participating in this event, entrants agree to abide by the contest rules and decisions of the judges, to allow their pie recipe to be included on the Ralls Chamber of Commerce website and social media pages, and to allow the organizers to publish photographs of them and their pies.
